The individual will be reporting to the Utility Manager and Dry Utility Lead as well as working closely with the construction and design teams to assist with planning and managing infrastructure and utility coordination for Hurontario Project.  The coordinator would be focused on Dry Utility construction such as Electrical, Vital Pressure Main, Telecommunication, aerial and subsurface construction.  The coordinator will be working closely with the Dry Utility Engineer to assist with planning, execution, conflict resolution, and reporting. Dry utility coordination is a vital role and will need to have a very detail orientated individual.  A Dry Utility Coordinator needs to be an independent self-driving individual that is detail and goal orientated to schedule and plan work accordingly.  They will be working predominately with field operations to mitigate and coordinate construction works with coworkers which will allow for safe excavations.

Role and General Responsibilities

  • Review Composite utilities plan and update accordingly to latest IFC
  • Review PUCC applications and reply to stakeholders
  • Maintain utilities design trackers
  • Review and submit UCC applications for Dry utilities, Wet utilities, OCS, Structure and TPSS
  • Utilities conflict analysis review and update
  • Prepare and update utilities design trackers as per the UBD and PA requirements
  • Attend, coordinate and manage Weekly DIG meetings with Utilities stakeholders including review and preparation for MOM’s
  • Coordinate the utilities conflicts with other disciplines and maintain utilities conflict matrix
  • review RFI’s, CRR, NCR, design packages, correspondence and submittals.
  • Coordinate and manage the utilities Asbuilt drawings all utilities for technical review and coordinate with quality team for documents handing over documents
  • Coordinate with PLA for lands and easement requirements
  • Review utilities stakeholder and project management invoices as per PA requirements
  • Create, manage, and distribute documentation and correspondence with all Utility Design
  • Create work packages and crew coordination for construction activities
  • Review utility drawings and identify issues to determine priority
  • Schedule and dispatch crews for investigation/work activities
  • Attend construction coordination meetings and provide technical updates
  • Compile and distribute various performance and productivity reports
  • Data entry into various systems
  • Support the billing process to ensure accuracy
  • Assists other staff in office duties as required
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
  • Conflict Management and site meetings will be frequent
  • Work hours will be determined by the construction activity

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • University Degree or college degree in Civil Engineering specializing in municipal services and/or roadway design, or the equivalent;
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience with utility construction and design
  • 2-5 years of general construction experience
  • Communication – excellent ability to communicate information and clarify requirements both orally and in writing clearly and effectively
  • Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-client environment with ability to apply various client-specific business processes to individual service request situations
  • Work with a sense of urgency by demonstrating the ability to shift priorities to accomplish objectives
  • Effectively manage time to keep commitments to both internal and external clients
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (MS work, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
  • Must be highly organized and able to multi-task • Must be able to probe and gather detailed information from callers, assess issues accurately and assign level of priority

Preferred Skills

  • Involvement in at least one LRT related projects
  • PMP certification is also an asset;
  • Demonstrates astute business acumen in the understanding and management of commercial contracts and risk
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is an asset;
